Today was a good day.

I think sometimes I get so caught up in life, that I forget to just *enjoy* life. Today I enjoyed life. I enjoyed Caroline. I enjoyed being free. Having freedom to go where I want to go, do what I want to do and have a little buddy to do it with me.

I slept in a little and then enjoyed two cooking shows on PBS, Cooking Under Fire and America's Test Kitchen by Cooks Illustrated. Both excellent shows. I turned the tv off, called a friend and then got to my chores. By 3:00, I was ready to go have some fun. Caroline and I went to Joann (to use my coupon, of course). After Logan's for dinner, we headed across the street to Books-A-Million. Surprisingly, they had a homeschooling book that I had been looking for. I was able to sit and enjoy reading it while Caroline played with the Thomas the Tank table. I found what I needed to know and didn't have to spend $30 on the book. That was a lovely moment.

Once home, I was able to work on a layout while Caroline watched a Care Bears DVD. We spent some time together as I read a book to her called Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary. (It's about a five-year-old entering Kindergarten.) It warmed my heart to see her enjoy it so. It kind of surprised me that she was so patient since it's mostly words with few pictures. We enjoyed a game of Care Bears Uno and then flipped over to Target where I got a new brown purse that is delightful.

I think the best part was when we were having dinner at Logan's and the waitress said, "Is this a girl's day out?" and I said, "Yes - every day." I looked at Caroline and said I was glad to have a little friend to hang out with. She looked at me earnestly and said, "What did you do before you had me? I love you so much and you love me so much!" I said, "I was lonely!" I think I will always remember that moment.

It really was a lovely day.

PS I heard Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" on the radio today and it made me think of you two. You could make a great layout by pulling out some of the lyrics of that song...with the journaling from this blog entry...not that I'm telling you how to scrap or anything. :)
