Since we try to take a field trip every week, this week we went to Mayfield Dairy in Athens, TN. I recently went to Chattanooga and passed a Mayfield Dairy plant. I got excited and looked it up online. We made plans to go and even though the directions said it was on I-75 South, I was positive I had seen it on I-24 on the way to Chattanooga. Turns out...that was a DISTRUBUTION CENTER! Duh! The actual plant was one hour past Chattanooga. Since we had talked about it for so long, we made the drive and I have to say, I'm glad we did! It was fun. After a plant tour, we got to sample any flavor ice cream and each scoop was $1. I sampled a new flavor called "play-dough" - it was bright neon yellow with cookie dough bits in blue, green and yellow. It was okay. I also tasted "birthday cake" - yum!! I got a scoop of strawberry cheesecake. Let's just say I will be buying some soon at a Walmart near me.
After the Dairy, we went to Rock City. I love that place. I went there several times as a child and I just never get tired of it. Caroline loves it more than anything. They have soothing natural music playing as you walk along the rock pathways, under waterfalls, thru caves and look out atop Lookout Mountain. It makes me feel close to God. You definitely get your exercise there...there are lots of steps going up and down. It was absolutely beautiful weather - just the right temperature. After Rock City, we went to downtown Chattanooga and ate at Sticky Fingers, one of our favorite places. We stopped at Target before going home and I picked up some MM Christmas wordfetti. Not too exciting. It was nice to just take a day to have fun. All in all, it was a perfect day!!
