We went to the pumpkin patch one street over from our house today. It's just a "we throw the pumpkins in a field" type place but I usually get some pretty good pics there. I have been reading about portrait settings on digital cameras and how they can blur the background. I always get jealous of my friend's pictures taken with an SLR so I decided to try it. I have also read that if your digi camera doesn't have portrait, you can use macro and the background will blur. I should have tested it out at home and not taken a chance at messing up my patch pics but as previously stated, I am dumb. So I used the macro setting on about half my pics and ALL THOSE PICS ARE BLURRY. Not only did it blur the background, it blurred Caroline! This could be due to camera shake, me using the zoom which is not okay with macro or just my poor photography skills. I probably wasn't close enough for it to focus on her with macro. Anywho...I still got about 10 good pics out of 40 but it's irritating.
The other thing (as long as I'm whining) was that of all days for me to go - there was a group of about 8 people with babies who went there with the sole purpose of taking pics of their kids!! They monopolized the entire "patch" and I had to stand around and wait while they used up the good spots. Ugh. What a day. Actually it was a great day until I got home and saw these pictures! I have been so happy today. Oh well...you live, you learn. The picture at left is one of the good ones. It might look blurry because I had to downsize it to post but it's actually very clear IRL.
Sorry so whiney!
