embellishments

Thought I'd share with you my new system for organizing paper embellishments, i.e. rub-ons, stickers, quotes, die cuts, etc.

Previously, they were stored in 3 separate accordian files. I love accordian files for portability but these were so full I couldn't find anything! I had one for letters and two sorted by themes for embellishments. They were in the floor by my desk and I didn't like that either. No where to store them out of sight and they were just plain ugly.

So I remembered this big wooden basket that I wasn't using. I put all my embellishments in it, standing up, sorted by dividers of white cardstock with tabs. I staggered the items, short in front, tall in back over and over so I can see it all at a glance. I love it!!! Love it. Love it! I keep it on a spare chair and I can easily stand over it and flip through, seeing everything at a glance. It's even inspired me to actually use some of the stuff instead of just hoarding it! (Since I took this pic, I actually moved all the letter stickers to the back because the themed embellishments have more small items and they are easier to see in the front part of the basket.) It looks full but I actually have room for more. I had to put a set of small CK books in the middle to help it all stand up. Here's how it looked before I moved the ltr stickers to the back...

Is this cool or what???

Very cool. So everything is divided by theme, short to tall with the letters in the back, cause they aren't really themed, right?

LOVE that, Tracie! I NEED to get my stickers organized - big time! Thanks for the inpsiration! Where did you get that container at? Target? ;)

Yep - all the letter stickers are in the back, sorted by COLOR. I have dividers for those too. The themed embellies are in the front now, with dividers by holidays.

The basket came from Target but they don't have them now. Check Home Goods for something similar. I just got an enamel one that's a similar size there for 9.99!

Oh what a great idea!!! I have a similar basket in tan linen. I put some mags and stamp sets in it. I may move my letter stickers to it though. I have far too many and they are in an accordion thng now. Thanks for the inspiration!

great idea. Another, "why didn't I think of that?" type of thing. So practical!
