Friday night, we arrived around 4 pm and got settled in our "cabin."
The girls all slept in cots on the floor with their sleeping bags on top.
I got the squeakiest cot that ever has been on Earth. It was awful!
We went on a wagon ride and it was the most beautiful setting by the campfire.
We drove and drove and drove and it looked like we were in the mountains!
I love me some roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. heehee
Then we had another campfire when we got back and had more smores/marshmallows.
The next day, the girls were up at sunrise (me too, can you believe it?) and we went on a scavenger hunt across a rickety old swinging bridge.
Then the girls made tie-dyed t-shirts and fleece pillows. Very cute.
Then we had lunch and they made campfires out of food. Also very cute.
Then the girls went on a one-mile, up-hill hike while I talked to Mike on the phone.
The leaders and other Moms went too but I know my limitations.
They all looked like they were going to pass out when they got back.
Except the leader, Lori, who is freakishly energetic. LOL
After the hike and some clean-up, the girls rode horses.
Caroline was very excited. She got their boots and helmet on (ick) and they showed her what to do. She got up on the horse, sat there for a moment and then burst into tears.
It was too scary, bless her heart. She had a mini melt-down but I finally talked her into being calm and she's fine about it now. Her Daddy and I made a big deal about her being brave enough to even sit on the horse so that helped. She's only 7!
All in all, it was a great time. The nasty factor was almost more than I could take.
I'm not sure I can handle it again next year but my friend Jennifer said, "It's like labor, you'll forget how nasty it was and want to come back." ha-ha!
Here are some of my favorite shots from the weekend:
The girls before the wagon ride, in the big barn:
My favorite close-up of Caroline while we were there:
Caroline on her sleeping bag. She didn't get any sleep because she was scared! Poor thing:
The big barn - very cool:
The very scary swinging bridge:
My favorite picture of us, right before the horse debaucle:
Best friends forever, Caroline and Courtney:
Hope you are having a good week!
