getting into God's Word

I am really getting into God's Word lately.
I've always been a procrastinator when it comes to reading the Bible.
I would say things like, "I need to read the Bible more often" or
"I'm bad about not reading my Bible."

I didn't realize what a disservice to myself that was until recently.
I've been watching Joyce Meyer every night at 11 pm for the better part of this year.
She (and my own Pastor) have made me see that in order to live a victorious Christian life,
I have to equip myself with the Word of God.

I have to know what it says so I can fight my spiritual battles
and so I can live according to His Will for my life.

Even Jesus fought Satan by quoting the Scripture to him.
I have always "kind of" known the Bible but I need to really know it without having to think twice about it.
I can't just know part of a verse. I have to know it and know that I know it.
It has to become part of me until it's almost like my own flesh.

I've been reading things lately and then I go "What???? I never knew it said that!"
I think I'll start sharing some of those revelations in the coming days.

Joyce Meyer said last night:
Is there anybody here that would like to go to a Dr. that just prayed a prayer one day to become a Dr. and went and hung out a shingle? No! When we are gonna go get help from somebody, we look for the professionals, we look for the highly educated. Well, you know what? You can come and pray the sinner's prayer and if you're really sincere in your heart, you can go to Heaven simply because you believe in Jesus and you've given your life to Him. But you will not walk in victory while you're here if you don't learn what's in the Bible and not just learn it but apply it to your life. You can even go to church and hear the Word and hear the Word and have stuff underlined in your Bible and that still doesn't mean that you know anything. The only way that we know if we really know anything is by looking at what we're doing.

Boy that really hit home with me.
I want to be highly educated in the Word of God so I'll stop doing stupid stuff!
I have a long way to go but I am learning things I never knew every day.

Man...this is good stuff. What a blessing His Word is.

I can't wait to share some things God is revealing to me in His Word.
It's been there along....I've just been too blind to see it!

I hope you're having a great week! Hugs!

I am SO with you on this post! Wow. I have just spent 20 minutes complaining about silly things and basically being mean spirited and reading your post makes me want to be a better person. Seriously. Sometimes you just feel like you hit an emotional rock bottom and need a jolt of good ol' "just read the book"

Thanks for being so honest with your failings and your desire to be more!

I just found your blog and have enjoyed reading your posts so much that I just had to tell you. :)

I have two little boys, and we'll be homeschooling too; I can't wait to get started!

You have inspired me to post more of my scrapbook pages on my blog, thanks!

Wow, a lot of one-sentence paragraphs, my mother would be ashamed! (she was my teacher)

I look forward to reading more of your "stuff"

God bless!
