home for the holidays

As promised, here are some pictures of my holiday decor.
Let's start with the Living Room.
I'll post pictures of the Den tomorrow. (All of these can be enlarged by clicking.)
We built our house to look like an old house. The rooms are small and cozy.
I know most people like open spaces but I like the look of an English cottage.
The largest room downstairs is our Den which is where we stay the most, so that works out good.

These were taken at night but I like the warm glow I got.
This is what we consider our "formal" Living Room. I like to sit in here and read.
This is where we open our gifts on Christmas morning with a fire blazing in the fireplace.
Our stockings are all needlepoint, collected as our family grew.
I adore needlepoint anything. I have several pillows in here that are needlepoint too.
The tree is to the right, you can just see a glimpse of a package if you look closely.
See my new sea grass rug? I got it a few months ago after wanting one for 10 years!

This is looking into my Dining Room from the Living Room.

Now here's my tree...to the right of the doors in the picture above but still in the Living Room. I've been collecting glass ornaments for about 10 years and only buy 1-2 a year now. This tree has only glass ornaments, except for about 3 that I liked that were wooden like a Rock City birdhouse.

And this picture is for my friend, Sherri....she fussed at me for only wanting red paper with red bows. I have done this once before and loved it. She said I should have fun paper for Caroline but Caroline loves this. She has said a lot this year how beautiful the packages look. I'll go back to Santa wrap next year but didn't these turn out good? (Sorry for the dark picture!) I'm wrapped out tho!

Thanks for letting me share.
I haven't had any guests so no one else has seen my decorating this year.

Can you believe only four more days????

It all looks wonderful. I love it. Reminds me of all the traditional pretty Christmas decor I have seen in lovely home magazines. :) The all red packages are the perfect touch.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Love ya!!

I love that you wrap all your packages the same. I do it also and my family thinks I'm nuts.
Well...I am pretty OCD by nature so this goes along with that...but I just love the uniformity! Your house is beautiful!

Hi Tracie,
I found your blog through Melissa's. I had to comment b/c your living room/dining room is pretty much an exact copy of mine structure-wise, although my decor is more modern. We have the same sized living room leading onto the dining room with the French doors. Even the paint colour is similar. All I'm missing is the fireplace, which I've been thinking of doing for a while now. ;) Your house is beautiful and cozy.
Merry Christmas to you!
