I've been crafty!

My favorite scrapper, Jennifer Gallacher, totally inspired me with a banner she made for a Halloween party. (Find more details and a template here.)

I decided to try my hand at making one using the great template she provided. One of my besties, Pastor Betsy, found out I was making one and she wanted one too so I made her a Fall one and myself a Halloween one.

Here are some step by step pics on how I did it:

First, I printed out the template, cut it out and traced it onto chipboard. I chose lightweight chipboard for this project. Same thickness as a cereal box so if you don't happen to have any chipboard - just cut one up!
For the Fall banner, I was keeping with an elegant look so I chose two coordinating papers to use. One was a flocked velvet, the other a muted pattern - both in similar shades of brown. I generously applied glue stick to one side of the chipboard and then laid it on the BACK of the paper.
Using my craft mat and craft knife, I sliced along the edge of the shape to cut the paper off...
Next I had to make my letters stand out so I needed several circles to layer behind each letter. I did each part of the process assembly style, cutting all the elements at once and then assembling it in the end.
I wanted a scalloped border all the way around but I could not get the side borders to end up right at the pointy end of the banner so I just went with one at the top. To secure the scalloped edge, which I cut with a template, I used Scotch Double-Sided tape on the very edge...I applied it to the edge and then folded it back on itself (this pic is before I folded it back)....
After putting it all together, I punched holes with my Crop-a-Dile and threaded the entire thing through a pumpkin colored ribbon.

Here is the Fall banner...
and here is the Halloween one I made for myself...it makes me giddy...
Here are a few pictures of my Halloween decorations. I am enjoying them so much!

I love it! I would love to make one for Kennedy's party at school on Friday, I just don't have time! I still need to come up with a craft for 22 kids!!!

Hollye - the first one took me 5 hours because I'm such a perfectionist! The second one went much quicker.
