finding joy in the monotonous

Do you dread the mundane and monotonous? Of course you do! We all do! Every day, I do laundry, load and unload the dishwasher, pick up clutter, vacuum and wash the counter off 10 times or more. The list goes on and on of things I don't really like to do.

Today as I was unloading the dishwasher, I said in my mind, "Thank you God for my beautiful dishes." and "I am so blessed to have a dishwasher." and "I am so blessed to have beautiful dishes." It made me smile and appreciate the honor of taking care of my home. It is not a curse to have to maintain my home, it is a blessing. I can make a beautiful habitat for the ones I love. I can create order and calm in the midst of a chaotic world.

I'm so thankful for moments at home to relax and unwind. I can really only relax if my home is clean so I have to remind myself that in order to enjoy life, I must stay on top of my housekeeping. If I take one hour a day to do all the things that need to be done, the rest of the day goes smoother in an organized environment. If I take one week to organize all the things that need organizing (closets, bookshelves, etc.), the rest of the year goes smoother because everything has a place.

In this I find joy. I find joy in the monotonous because the result is a happier home. I am telling myself every day - you are blessed to have this life, to have this house to clean, to have this child to hold, to have this husband to kiss, to have these friends to laugh with - you have a happy life.

Well Hello there! Did you go to the hs cirriculum fair? Got all my stuff for next your posts...glad you are back here! Are those really pictures of your house? I love cleaning...I know...I am probably a freak...but I need a better schedule...the kids have their Tuesday and Saturday chores but the few I do seem to need to be better organized...but I am a possibility and a work in progress! It will come! The family is more important so I try not to let these things become more important than them...cause I could do that if I don't keep it in perspective...anyway, thanks for your inpiration! Happy cleaning!

This is really beautiful! I often find myself under a dark cloud when it comes to housework.

Ok..let's see if I can do this...I'm looking to the right and see laundry that has been just thrown on the floor...Thank you God that we have clothes to wear...Thank you for us having a washer and dryer...Thank you that Downy fabric softener smells so good...Thank you for my friend Tracie who has inspired me to get off my butt and do said laundry...Amen
