a card for him

The girls in my cards class asked me recently to do a few cards with a more masculine theme.
I'm normally all about the girly colors - it's just my thang. :)
It was really a challenge to come up with something in a manly color scheme!

I found this My Mind's Eye striped paper on sale at Michaels for about 20 cents and there was enough of it to make 12 cards.
Also found this great red paper for the center.
The distressing on it adds to the rugged look of this card. (It came that way.)

I wrote this little poem for inside and added some stars on foam dots for interest.
I really like how it turned out!

The back of the striped paper is blue so I used that for the outside of the hinged sides. The base of this card was made from 12x12 kraft cardstock so I punched a couple pieces from the same kraft cardstock and BEFORE adhering the blue pieces, I stuck a brad through. Then all I needed was a little twine to keep it closed.
I'm prepping for April's class right now and I'm thinking I might use this design again, with a Mother's Day card. I like how it stands up well on its own if you want to display it.

We took a great field trip today....I'll be sharing all about that tomorrow and some more craftiness soon.
