How you doin? (said in my best Joey from Friends voice) :)
I tell ya. This has been one of those weeks that I'm glad is almost over!
Today I'm staying home and cleaning although it's 4 pm and I'm just getting ready to start!
I have so much going on right now but it's all of my choosing so I won't complain. :)
Tuesday night was my cards class and I haven't had time to post pics because Wednesdays are my day in the office.
I worked in the office yesterday from 9 am to 9 pm!
Okay I did take one hour off and run to Hobby Lobby but the rest was at the church. That's how I roll.
So here are the first two cards from my class....both patriotic.
Both simple. Both kraft based. Both using My Mind's Eye FunDays line that was on sale for 50 cents!
First, I sketched this card out and it ended up being the only one I did from my sketch.
(Why? Because this class was product driven, instead of sketch driven. I ended up using some stuff I had already bought at the store and it just did not work for my sketches.)
Here it is on the top left....sketched to be square and have a big star in the middle:
I cut out a huge star and it just looked awful! It was like the star wasn't fat enough in the middle to fill up the card.
So I decided to go with a circle and made this phrase in my Silhouette Studio software.
I made the phrase to come out in mainly two pieces with an A to add on each end, just to make it easier to glue on.
I almost always put a sentiment inside the card (for my students) because a card seems unfinished without one.
I used to search online for the perfect sentiments but now I just write something myself.
I used AS Black Swan for the journaling and part of the sentiment on the front.
My second patriotic card was a request from my students as a card to give to someone who is a veteran.
I still wanted to use a star so I quickly sketched this design out and although simple, I really like it!
I cut the banner shape, the star and the ring of kraft with my Silhouette.
After cutting the banner shape, I ran it through the printer to put the sentiment on.
For step-by-step instructions on how to do that, see this post from my blog.
Inside it says....
The font on this is Lobster - a new fave.
So here's the deal....if you like that "God Bless America" and you own a Silhouette Cameo - I'm happy to e-mail it to you!
Just leave your e-mail in the comments and I will do it!
Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting!
