It's me!
Today I completed about 8 hours of training for my new gig as a Michaels' Instructor!
I am super excited!
I'll be teaching four sets of classes:
1) Spotted Canary School: Learn About Scrapbook Design
2) Martha Stewart Crafts Glittering and Punch-Around-the-Page
3) paper-ED™ Classes: Technique driven classes on a variety of topics.
4) Monthly Crop Nights from 3 to 9 pm for $5
I'm getting the ball rolling with Spotted Canary classes. They are marketed as beginner classes but after seeing all the information provided, I believe anyone who just wants to learn more about papercrafting would enjoy them. They are only $25 for 4 classes - 8 hours of instruction which is a bargain! There is a supply list but everything recommended are products you would need to papercraft, such as a trimmer and adhesive. So I'm looking forward to teaching those. I have them scheduled for every Saturday in August, from 4 to 6 pm.
I'm still a bit confused about the Martha Stewart classes. I need to get a first-hand look at the kits. It's basically a $10 class and then you buy a kit you use in the class. Sounds fun!
The paper-ED™ class list has taken a while for me to fully comprehend. There are a wide variety of classes available for me to teach and they are all technique driven. I might actually need to bone up on a few of my skills before I attempt one. I'm not that adept at inking and mixed media so I need to practice some things. I understand and know the steps....I just haven't done it often because I'm such a clean and simple crafter. I'm planning to teach a class about Smash Books, a paper-bag mini, and a couple of Sketch classes where you make several layouts based on one sketch. The best part is, these classes are corporately designed and I just put my own style and spin on them so the prep should take less time than the rest of my classes. I design those from scratch so that's always the hardest part!!
I am hosting my first crop this Friday from 3 to 9 pm, so if you're in my area - I'd love to hang out with you! We'll have fun....I promise! It's only $5!
I'll be sharing some samples I'm making for the classes soon and maybe pics of my first few classes. If you have taken a class at Michaels - I'd love to hear all about it! What you liked, what you didn't like and anything else you want to share!
Wish me luck!
