This week's ScrapGals episode is all about finding inspiration.
Tiffany and I really had a great time breaking down where we get our inspiration and the best way to use it!

We talked for a while about putting the inspiration we find to good use creatively by scraplifting.
Scraplifting often has a negative connotation amongst scrappers but we believe that a great design should be imitated!
Our favorite designers are way more talented than we are so we are going to fully embrace their expertise and let them inspire us.
This week, Tiffany and I will be sharing two layouts we both did a take on - one today and one later this week.
First up - this fabulous layout by Kelly Noel. I love Kelly's clean style and incredible photographs. I could spend hours reading her blog!
We thought this layout had great potential for a variety of photo sizes, embellishments, titles and more.
Tiffany is sharing her layout today on her blog at this link and here's my take on it! (Click to see better.)
(Just a note - the red at the bottom and the red at the top are the same in real life! Also, the red peeking out at top is a Project Life 3x4 card!)
Originally I wanted to use a mix of heart sizes but it just seemed to make it too busy because the pictures are so colorful.
Also, I always want the photos to be the first thing you see when you look at my layouts. Keeping the focus on them is important to me.
That's why I went with an all-white background...something I rarely do but I love colors popping on white.
This is a layout that truly reflects some of my most important memories - a story that needed to be told.
I tried to include as many details as possible because I may not always remember them.
It would have been easy to title this "library" but the point of the story is really that I want to remember the good times we had together and when I look at these photos, I love her sweet smile. So I used both of those phrases.
This page makes me giddy and the best part? These pics have been sitting in my drawer for YEARS but I didn't have plans for them until I went looking for four pictures that would fit for this design. So I chose the design first and then thought carefully about an important story I want to tell and matched that to pictures I already had printed. That's a good process for me. With the design mostly out of the way, I was able to relax and enjoy the process more than I usually do. I really don't feel any less pride in this than if I had done it from scratch because I made it my own. But I know me....I wouldn't have come up with this on my own.
I think it's fun to see them side by side. Tiffany's version is less of a literal translation but mine is a straightforward copy and I'm okay with that!
I will have more inspiration every day this week, with tips on how to take bits and pieces of layouts you see and add them to your pages.
It's gonna be great so check back and let us know what you think about this week's ScrapGals podcast!
