new ScrapGals: Creating with a Kit

As I shared last week, Tiffany and I have the honor of being Jenni Bowlin's May Guest Designers.
Since we had a BLAST working with the papercrafting kit...we decided to talk about our experience in this week's podcast.
We're also discussing manufacturer's collection kits, page kits and making your own kits using your stash.

You can listen at this link on Podomatic or subscribe in iTunes or right here on this player...

Here's another layout I made using the kits from JBS Mercantile.
I love this chalkboard background paper but I will be honest, I've never quite known how to use a paper with title built in.
I decided just to build the layout in the open space and I ended up loving how this turned out...
I just happened to have these photos of Caroline and her new bike that perfectly matched the paper!
They came in my Snapfish order a few days before I got the kit and I pulled them out, knowing I wanted to make a page with them.

What's so funny is that in our last show, I shared that I would probably never do the technique of clustering embellishments.
Well I had to eat my words because right after I said that, I made this layout and I did, indeed, cluster embellishments along each side.
It's something that I hadn't really done before but it was so much fun, I'm sure I'll do it again!
Those little wood veneer flash cards are the bomb dot com! They are perfect for every page!
If you haven't picked these up yet....I highly encourage purchasing them!
You can get them at this link.

My other favorite item in Jenni's product line is her flatbacks. I ended up using one on every layout I made with the kit.
I think this one is just perfect....
This is definitely my favorite set, because it just goes with anything!!
You can get those here.

I hope this show inspires you to try a kit club or even try making your own kits!

FYI, in case you missed it, we had a bonus episode of ScrapGals in honor of National Scrapbooking Day this past Saturday, May 3rd. If you haven't heard that episode yet, here's a quick link to it for ya!

Peace out crafty friends!

This is really pretty, Trac! I love the photos of Caroline with her bike. I like clustering embellies, but sometimes struggle to get it to look the way I want it to. Sometimes they turn out fine, other times.. meh, so-so.

I followed the link on Jenni Bowlin's blog to your podcast and am soooo happy I did. You two ladies are a riot. I listen to half a dozen or so scrappy podcasts and like them all for different reasons but yours is so refreshingly awesome. I tune in while I scrap and I instantly felt like I had two new friends in the room with me. I found myself nodding, answering back, and laughing so hard that I drew tears. I am so glad I found it and your blogs. Thank you so much for "keeping it real", making me laugh and remembering just why I got hooked on this hobby so many years ago.

I love the colors of your page! You did a wonderful job of clustering:D
Did you type your journaling on vellum or is that wide washi tape? I like the look.
