where I create

A few days ago, I was feeling overwhelmed by the mess in my studio area.
It is about 1/2 of my den which is where we mainly reside so I don't like it to be a mess but after making numerous projects, it was a disaster!

Here's the proof! Yuck!
When this area is out of control - I feel out of control. So one night I started cleaning and three hours later, I had it back in order.
Here's how it looks now. I try very hard to get it back to this after each creative whirlwind.

I'm blessed to have great light coming in from seven windows in the room. My hutch holds supplies in the bottom and currently has a huge flat basket on it with all my December Daily supplies. Probably getting ready to give up on that project until about October...

Here's that messy area...cleaned up now....
I have a small stool to the left of my chair with my Making Memories carousel of tools on it. The stool makes it just the right height.

I really want to put a big linen board on that wall to the left and fill it with layouts and quotes and things or maybe a collage of pictures...

Here's my view as I create. I usually have the armoire open with Andy Griffith on TV. This might sound crazy but I keep my shades up all the time, even at night. No one ever drives down our dead end street that doesn't live here. Plus our yard is huge so the neighbors are far away...
I normally have that table on the left filled with silver picture frames but I had lost them until this week when I found them in a drawer. I put them there to decorate for Christmas. I knew I'd find them sooner or later! Normally this doesn't look so empty. The pic in the floor against the wall is a yard sale find I bought last summer. I have got to hang that this week. I am a horrible procrastinator sometimes. I need a nail!

These cubes are primarily where I store everything by color and my photos...
The taller cubes hold my patterned paper, themed embellishments and cardstock. That box of books on the floor is homeschool curriculum I'm selling in a few weeks at a curriculum fair.

I try to keep everything hidden so it stays neat but I do keep these things out...my two albums in progress, one is my Project Life album, the other just regular layouts, a pink mini I'm making for Caroline about her 13th year, a bucket of buttons/stamps & basket of blank card bases...

Here's some stuff I have hidden in the corner but I'm moving all of this soon....the red bag's already gone...

Lastly....here's my new setup for making videos. I'm still tweaking it but I have to have something I can take down easily and this works...

So that's it! I love creating here when it's all clean like this. I cannot be inspired or work in a mess. Clean space = happy me!

Your space looks great and workable! It cracks me up that you have that picture un-hung since last summer! I'm the type that still has her purse hanging on her arm as she hammers in the nail!

I love looking at scrap spaces! Thanks for a peek into yours. Listen, inquiring minds want to know: what is that pink thing next to the wall in the first picture and others? Is it a tray or what?

I will post pictures of my scrap room when I finish it - I'm getting close. Also, I have a blog but it is sadly neglected. It doesn't know what it wants to be. I'm fixing to overhaul it (yes I'm from the south, too--Georgia--and we say "fixing to..."). I hadn't been using it to upload layouts but am reconsidering the whole thing now. I really am getting some renewed inspiration from your podcasts, your layouts, and now the Mary Ann Jenkins heritage layouts. I retired three years ago and am still figuring out how to manage my time. I have more than enough things I want to do but seem to run around in circles from one thing to another. And lately I'm spending a lot of time listening to podcasts and looking at layouts and blogs on the computer. !!!

I have been enjoying your and Tiffany's layouts following your podcasts very much!!!!

Lisa - yes, that is a tv tray type thing that I got at Ross for about $12! I love it!!! Tiffany and I sit it in front of the couch to hold our recording equipment when we tape the show. I'm so glad we're inspiring you!

Looks amazing! I am very jealous of the amount of space you have, I scrap in our dining room and I we can only just get round the table with my expedit unit and other storage shelves in there! But I'm very grateful to have that space at least.

I love how you have a stool beside you for tools, that's a fab idea. I tend to pile stuff on all the dining chairs while I work. It means I have to clean up everyday before dinner or breakfast though! x
